Mathews Compound Bows

The manufacturing plant for mathews compound bows is located in Sparta Michigan and spans three buildings totaling 100,000 square feet that employs 240 people. Mathews not only makes very good compound bows but also many accessories. Their slogan has been "Catch Us if You Can" for years conveying their ongoing commitment to quality and innovation.

The founder Matt McPherson started making recurves and compound bows in the 1970's. He patented his first archery concept in 1985 called the Inner cam and started McPherson Archery. That company was sold in 1989 and in 1992 Mathews Inc was founded.

Matt pioneered the single cam that revolutionized the industry and patented the SOLOCAMĀ®. A year later he sold the cam design to Bear Archery and retained the right to use the concept royalty free. The single cam has been copied in one form or another ever since because its smooth drawing, easy to tune and very trouble free.

Recently Mathews compound bows have developed what is arguably one of the fastest dual cam bows on the market in the Monster and Monster XLR8. These two bows are ibo speed rated for up to 353 and 360 feet per second. They also recently released two single cam bows the Reezen 6.5 and 7.0 that get speeds of 340 feet per second. Speed isn't everything but it sure is nice to have when you need it.
